Our
founder Mr. Lee Kam Sheung starts his sauce production
business in Nam Shui Village in Guangdong Province,
China. Right on the South Sea coast, where oysters
are in abundance, Mr. Lee seizes on this advantage
to produce an oyster sauce that becomes very popular.
Thus, Lee Kum Kee is born.

Kum Kee relocates to Macau. A distribution network
spanning Guangdong and Hong Kong is established.

The
management of Lee Kum Kee passes on to the second
generation of the Lee family members. Mr. Lee Shiu
Nam carries on the work of improving production procedures
and ensuring better quality among Lee Kum Kee's many
products. Mr. Lee Shiu Tang takes on marketing responsibilities.
Great tasting products paired with an innovative marketing
strategy make Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce and Shrimp
Paste a hit in major North American cities.

Kum Kee's Hong Kong branch opens and very quickly
expands to meet the increasing demands of its overseas
markets. Lee Kum Kee redesigns its logo and label,
further enhancing its brand image.

Kum Kee moves its headquarters to Hong Kong, a dynamic
and prosperous trading city.

Mr.
Lee Man Tat is appointed Chairman of the company.
New business policies and expansion strategies are
introduced, setting the direction of the company for
the future. Panda Oyster Sauce is launched, achieving
worldwide popularity.

Kum Kee's centennial. To mark the occasion, a new
company logo is designed to symbolise the company's
vision of building a cultural bridge between East
and West with our sauce products. Also, Lee Kum Kee
moves into its new headquarters in Tai Po Industrial
Estate.

1992
Moving
with the trend of more discerning culinary tastes,
Lee Kum Kee launches its "XO Sauce", a premium
gourmet sauce. The overwhelming reponse gives Chinese
sauces a status boost.

Lee
Kum Kee unveils its new corporate brand logo, the
Lee Kum Kee Golden Plaque and label designs. The new
logo is a guarantee of all our products' premium quality.
Executed in a contemporary style, the border of the
Golden Plaque is a detail of the traditional Chinese
window frame, reflecting Lee Kum Kee's Hong Kong heritage.
In recognition of Lee Kum Kee's continued excellence,
the company is awarded the "Hong Kong Q-Mark
for Quality" by the Federation of Hong Kong Industries
and the "1994 Governor's Award for Industry:
Quality" by the Industry Department, Hong Kong
Government.

Lee
Kum Kee becomes the first Hong Kong food manufacturer
accredited with ISO 9002 Certificate by the Hong Kong
Quality Assurance Agency and British Standards Institution.
Lee Kum Kee wins another two awards in recognition
of its effort and achievement in building Hong Kong's
