Lee Kum Kee Soy Sauce Wins China Top Brand Special Honor

(Sep 24, 2003¡XHong Kong) On September 1, 2003, Lee Kum Kee (Xinhui) Food Co., Ltd. received the ¡§China Top Brand¡¨ plaque and certificate awarded by the State General Administration of the People¡¦s Republic of China for Quality Supervision and Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ). This is another national recognition for Lee Kum Kee after already securing the state certification of ¡§Product Exemption from Quality Surveillance Inspection¡¨.

This year, the China Top Brand Award has been expanded to cover the seasoning category (soy sauce, vinegar) and the evaluation standard more strictly imposed. This year, an overall evaluation was made by the corresponding special sub-committees under the China Committee for Promotion of Famous Brand Strategy on 26 classes of products. It was based on the voluntary application of enterprises, review and recommendation by each province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government. As considered and passed by the plenary session of the China Committee for Promotion of Famous Brand Strategy, a list of China Top Brand products based on a preliminary evaluation was shown to the public for comment within a definite period. The Committee finalized 153 products under 142 brands produced by 138 enterprises as the China Top Brand products in 2003.

Lee Kum Kee (Xinhui) Food Co., Ltd. was founded in 1995 and started production in April 1996, in a proprietorship invested by Lee Kum Kee at Qibao, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong. With 1200 acres and 310 employees, it is Lee Kum Kee¡¦s largest production base. The Xinhui Plant manufactures soy sauces, shrimp sauces, sesame oil and chili sauces. These products are then supplied to plants in Hong Kong, the US, Malaysia and Guangzhou Huangpu. The plant is accredited with ISO9001: 2000 and HACCP. At the beginning of 2002, the plant began to introduce advanced seasoning filling production equipment which lead the plant to become the No. 1 national manufacturing corporation in raw materials processing and finished goods production.
